****** WE REWARD EXCELLENCE AND HARD WORK ******
We perform at Hampden Park Community Association Hall, Brodrick Road, Hampden Park, Eastbourne. BN22 9NR.
For upcoming events, productions etc see our Calendar for news.
We also have a photo gallery of past events/productions and a video with images from Alice in Wonderland (Original illustrations - not the play).
2008 began successfully with The Tale of Peter Rabbit (By Beatrix Potter).
Adapted & Directed by Paula Kemp, the younger members of Uptown Players had a chance to show off their first class skills in both acting and mime.
In June, we performed An Inspector Calls (By J.B. Priestley) - Directed by Rob Kemp, this was an enormous challenge and we rose to the occasion.
Our younger members, as well as doing front of house, recited poems from Alice in Wonderland (Being performed June 2009). Their efforts and hard work was appreciated by all.
Our final production, A Christmas Carol (By Charles Dickens), Adapted & Directed by Ian Cosham, was delayed owing to illness but was performed brilliantly by all on 31st Jan & 1st February.

The Uptown Players were formed in 2007, many of the members had previously worked together in other drama groups.

THE UPTOWN PLAYERS HAVE A STRICT CHILD PROTECTION POLICY IN PLACE.
WE ALSO HAVE (ADULT) CHAPERONES TRAINED AND CRB CHECKED BY EAST SUSSEX COUNTY COUNCIL.
NO ONE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES IS ALLOWED TO FILM OR TAKE PICTURES OF ANYONE UNLESS AGREED AND SANCTIONED BY THE COMMITTEE. FAILURE TO OBSERVE THIS POLICY WILL RESULT IN MEMBERSHIP BEING DENIED/TERMINATED IMMEDIATELY. WE WILL ALSO CONTACT THE POLICE IF IT IS WARRANTED.
** Recent changes to Volunteer checking 'Independent Standards Authority'. The Uptown Players will continue to get new (adult) members CRB checked via NODA and will also continue to have Trained/CRB Checked Chaperones (approved by the committeee) via East Sussex County Council. The new legislation is unlikely to make a difference - any further information will be announced as and when it becomes available.**
We also have a mascot, Misty the Sprocker Spaniel - loved by all the members, especially the younger ones.
We normally meet on a Thursday evening from 7.30-9.15pm, although sometimes we need to add a few Sundays.
I am delighted and proud to announce that we have received another grant. Our esteemed thanks to the co-operative membership community fund for their assistance in enabling our group to develop our Panto project upto December 2009.
The Uptown Players have been fortunate enough to receive from Grassroots. We'd like to thank them for giving us the amazing opportunity to excel at what we do and to keep a fabulous family drama group together.
Grassroots takes us up to December 2009
